Reimagining the Heart of the Home

When the Hartwell family approached us about their kitchen, they had one request: make it feel like it was always meant to be this way. The existing space was functional but dated — white laminate, fluorescent lighting, and a layout that isolated the cook from the rest of the home.

Our design team worked closely with the family to understand how they actually lived. Sunday morning pancakes. Thursday evening homework sessions. The annual holiday gathering that somehow always ends up in the kitchen. Every detail of the new design was informed by these rituals.

We removed the wall separating the kitchen from the family room, creating a sweeping open-plan space anchored by a 12-foot waterfall-edge island in book-matched Calacatta marble. The cabinetry — milled in-house at Palm Beach Fabricators — is American black walnut with soft-close mechanisms and integrated LED lighting.

The result is a kitchen that doesn't just look stunning — it works the way this family lives. And that, ultimately, is what luxury renovation is about: not imposing a style, but revealing the one that was always there.
